The Demagnetization Harmonics Generation Mechanism in Permanent Magnet Machines With Concentrated Windings

چکیده

Partial demagnetization is a condition that may occur in Permanent Magnet machines due to overloading or thermal stress. Whenthis happens, the magnetic field locally weakens leading an asymmetry of air-gap field. This will cause harmonics, which be expressed as extra losses and mechanical oscillations. Moreover, since becomes weaker, more current required serve load less efficiency, increased consequently increase temperature, further progression severity until total machine breakdown. Several methods have been proposed literature for online detection demagnetization, however they not related fault manufacturing characteristics machine, play important role on expected harmonic index associated signatures. paper presents first time detailed analytical investigation harmonics stator spectrum case function winding number poles. The results are verified by extensive simulations via finite element method experimental testing.

Concentrated Windings in Compact Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators: Managing Efficiency

In electric power generation, customers want generators with high efficiency. Nowadays, modern turbo-generators have efficiencies greater than 98%. Although this amount should not be obtained for all kind of machines, efficiency will remain one of the main parameters for customer choice. Efficiency is also linked to the life of the machine: the higher the efficiency is, the longer the machine’s...

Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Machines with Non-Overlapping Concentrated Windings for Low-Speed Direct-Drive Applications

Many geared electric drives can benefit from removing the gearbox and driving directly the load at low speed using a permanent-magnet synchronous machine (PMSM). PMSMs with non-overlapping concentrated windings are particularly attractive in low-speed direct drives since they allow, among other advantages, a high number of poles with a limited number of slots. Therefore, this thesis is dedicate...

Minimization of Cogging Force in Fractional-Slot Permanent Magnet Linear Motors with Double-Layer Concentrated Windings

Abstract: Permanent magnet linear motors (PMLMs) with double-layer concentrated windings generally show significant cogging forces due to the introduction of auxiliary teeth for eliminating the end-effect induced phase unbalance, even when the fractional-slot technology is applied. This paper presents a novel approach to reduce the cogging force by adjusting the armature core dimensions in frac...
